Our Spring Rally was held at Mallard Point Campground in Decatur, AL, from April 23 - 26. Mallard Point is a large city park that boasts not only a campground, but also a very nice golf course, an indoor ice skating rink, a water park and other amenities. It is a beautiful park and was matched by a beautiful weekend, weather wise. There were 13 coaches in attendance, which included two guests, Ginger and Bill page, friends of Hollis and Meriam, and Jo An and Lee Baur, potential new SMB members. Things got off to a good start with happy hour at 4PM. This was followed by a BBQ dinner, provided by our hosts, at 6PM. Dessert was make your own ice cream sundaes with lots of toppings. We also had cake to accompany our ice cream, provided by the Wares, as it was Janie’s birthday. We had a 50/50 drawing which Janie won (nice birthday present). Games took up the rest of the evening. Winners of “pass the trash” were Meriam Glover and Bob Heiges. The Red Hat Ladies and the Romeos luncheons were scheduled for Friday at 11AM. The ladies , of course, were in their finery and the men donned their Red Romeo ball caps. The Romeos found a Hooters just up the road. Seems to be their tradition. The ladies had a delightful luncheon at a small Bakery/Eatery in Decatur. The food was excellent and the the bakery aromas were wonderful. Dinner was “on our own”, so some ate out and some ate in. At 7PM, we gathered for our evening games. This time we played Card Bingo, which was fun and there were lots of winners. Saturday morning , our hosts provided a breakfast of sausage biscuits at 9AM and immediately afterwards we held our business meeting. We decided to return to Decatur next year for our Spring rally 2010. Our Summer rally will be at Grand River Canal Campground in Kentucky, Dates are June 16, 17, 18. Contact Don Dixon for information at 270-519-2190. The rest of the day was free to play golf, shop, read, visit or just relax. All in all, it was a wonderful relaxing weekend, We carpooled to McCullums Seafood Restaurant for dinner. Games started at 7:30, and once again the game of choice was “pass the trash”. Our guest Jo An won at one table, but I confess I missed the winner at the other table. Many thanks to our hosts Danny and Lynn Boozer and Hollis and Meriam Glover for a great rally. Make plans to attend the joint Bounder rally in Bethpaige, VA in September. BU will be hosting this year but it is for BU and BOA. Our Fall rally will be at the Holiday Travel Park in Chattanooga again this year. Dates are Oct 29 - Nov 1. Hope to see more of you at our upcoming rallies. Safe travels wherever the road leads you.
